Six year old Ritu suffers from asthma for last one year. She lives in a small Indian village with her parents. Ritu’s family lives a traditional life. Her mother gets up early in the morning to grind Bajra (Pearl millet) grains using a hand-driven grinder that is fixed beside Ritu’s bed.
What leads to asthma in Ritu? How is her problem solved?
After consulting with a physician, Ritu’s mother becomes aware that grain dust is acting as a trigger for Ritu’s asthma episodes. She realizes her mistake of grinding grain beside Ritu’s bed. Ritu’s bed is shifted to another room and as a result her asthma condition improves.
