Generic Drug: Bupropion HCI.

Indication: Useful for smoking cessation.

Contraindication: Hypersensitivity to any of the component in the preparation, convulsive disorders, brain tumor and bulimia.

Dosage & Administration: Available as tablets for oral administration. Dosage starts with 150mg per day for initial 3 days, which can be increased up to 300 mg per day later on.

Special Precautions:

  • Do not take large dose. It can be habit forming.
  • Cautious use in case of liver, kidney and heart disease.
  • Cautious use in case of glaucoma, prostatic hypertrophy and thyroid disorder.

Side effects/ Undesired effects/ Adverse drug reactions: The common adverse events are drowsiness, tiredness, anxiety, insomnia, nightmares, dry mouth, frequent and difficult urination, constipation, blurred vision, sexual disability, sweating and headache.
