Generic Drug: Salbutamol + Etofylline + Bromhexine.
Indication: Asthma and chronic bronchitis (reversible airway obstructive diseases).
Contraindication: Hypersensitivity to any of the component in the preparation. Patients with thyrotoxicosis. Children below 2 years of age.
Dosage & Administration: Available as Betasma Plus Tablet and Betasma Plus Syrup. Dosage as directed by physician.
Cautious use is recommended in patients with hepatic impairment, chronic lung disease, cardiac failure, hypertension, high fever, hyperthyroidism, arrhythmias, pulmonary edema, diabetes mellitus, convulsive disorders, history of peptic ulcers and in those taking antidepressants i.e. monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors or tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs).
Side effects/ Undesired effects/ Adverse drug reactions: The common adverse events are angina, tremor, headache, anorexia, muscle cramps, palpitations, nausea, irritability, insomnia, heartburn, gastritis, anxiety, nervousness, and a temporary rise in serum aminotransferase level. Neurotoxicity and seizures can occur on high doses.
