Generic Drug: Salbutamol

Indication: Asthalin is indicated for the relief of bronchospasm in asthma, chronic bronchitis and emphysema, and other conditions associated with airways obstruction. It is also indicated to prevent symptoms in circumstances recognized by the patient to precipitate an asthma attack (e.g. before exercise, unavoidable allergic exposure).

Contraindication: Hypersensitivity to salbutamol.

Dosage & Administration: Available as Asthalin Tablets and Asthalin syrup. Adult: 2-4 mg thrice a day. Children: 1-2 mg three or four times a day or as directed by physician.

Special Precautions:

  • Cautious use in case of thyrotoxicosis, diabetes, hypertension and myocardial insufficiency.
  • Cautious use in case if patient is taking other beta-2 stimulant drug (sympathomimetic drug).
  • Cautious use with diuretics, xanthenes, digitalis and beta blockers due to drug interactions.

Side effects/ Undesired effects/ Adverse drug reactions: Tremors, palpitation, restlessness, hypokalemia, ankle edema, angioedema, urticaria, hypotension and collapse.
