Generic Drug: Astemizole (non sedative anti-histamine).

Indication: Rhinitis, hay fever, seasonal allergy symptoms i.e. runny nose, sneezing, throat irritation, and red, irritated & itching eyes and allergic skin diseases.

Contraindication: Hypersensitivity, Porphyria.

Dosage & Administration: Available in tablet (ASTELONG TAB) and syrup (ASTELONG SYR) form. Once daily or as and when required basis.

Special Precautions:

  • Should be taken empty stomach.
  • Cautious use in case of cardiac & hepatic impairments and patients with prolonged QT interval, urinary retention, epilepsy, and electrolyte imbalance.
  • Not recommended during pregnancy.
  • Cautious use with terfinadine, antifungal, macrolides and diuretics due to drug interactions.

Side effects/ Undesired effects/ Adverse drug reactions: Diarrhoea, weight gain, dry mouth, abdominal pain, flatulence, and urinary retention.
